Watkins Wellness™ History
At Watkins Wellness™, we’re forward-thinkers with a long history of developing innovative features and technologies that are now the standard for the industry. Here’s how we began and how we got to where we are today:
1977 – Jeff and Jon Watkins build the first Hot Spring® Spas portable spa
1978 – Watkins begins its history of industry firsts, such as full insulation, underwater lighting, and top-loading filters
1984 – Watkins introduces Moto-Massage®, the industry’s first moving jet; introduces the first hot tubs in Europe
1986 – Watkins joins the MASCO family of home products
1996 – Watkins opens first of two manufacturing plants in Tijuana, Mexico
1997 – Jeff Watkins retires, Steve Hammock becomes President of Watkins Manufacturing
1998 – Watkins earns ISO 9001 certification and passes $100 million in annual sales
2013 – Watkins recognized as UT San Diego Top Workplace
2014 – Watkins unveils Highlife® NXT spa designed with BMW Group DesignworksUSA; named UT San Diego Top Workplace for second year in a row
